Liberty Jazz

About Us

Liberty Jazz is a group of musicians dedicated to preserving and presenting American jazz. The group was started in 2009 by trombonist Dave Reetz, his wife and bassist Sherry Reetz, and vocalist-guitarist Scott Weber. The group became more established in 2010 when saxophonist Brad Heckman and trumpeter Jordan Perry joined, bringing variety and a horn section sound. Mike Shoemaker and Kevin Pierce do the drumming, pianist Jamie Page and bassist Josh Yancey also play with the group sometimes.

Liberty Jazz plays and sings a variety of jazz, from early Dixieland, big band and gospel hits to modern pop tunes in a jazz style. You can hear Liberty Jazz the first Friday of every month at Coach’s Pizza World (112 S. Washington, Mexico, Missouri, 7-9pm) and at festivals, fairs and events in Mid Missouri. We also perform at wedding receptions, private parties and sometimes out on the street for fun!
